Hello, I am not much of a beer person, but my husband and I went to Lexington Ky, on a weekend that they happen to be having a festival around the court house, with beer stands. One of them was the Lexington Brewing complany, they use the barrels from one of the bourbon distillaries since the bourbon distillaries can only use their barrels once they then sell them to the brewery and they make their beer in them. Which is wonderful it has a hint of bourbon in the beer, I think it taste great, and it would go good with cheese, course that would also depend on what kind of cheese you are going to be eating as well.
I have found that Samual Adams Winter Lager is one of my best tastes for beer recently. The taste is more hops and barley rather than alcohol so most cheeses beyond American should still have enhanced flavor. This is a heavier beer that can be used for dessert or "pork chop" filler ;-)
First off, any cheese can go great with Corona, since the cheese masks that nasty swill taste. There is no beer and cheese pairing greater than Stilton with a good American Barleywine, such as Sierra Nevada Bigfoot or Stone Old Guardian.
That is a hard question....I couldnt even tell you. I might have to go with Coronas with some good cheddar on top of some ritz crackers. yeah thats the business.
I can tell you what's not a good beer and cheese combo. I have an aunt and uncle who live in Minnesota. The whole family would end up going up for a week to the lakeside cabin. My dad drank Heilemans, one uncle would take his Weidemann with him, grandpa was a Burger man and the uncle from Minnesota would drink Hamms. We always would road trip one morning into Wisconsin to a cheese farm. I don't know why anyone would like Limburger cheese. But this cheese mixed with the assortment of beers everyone had and you just hoped that it didn't rain while we were at the cabin. You didn't want to be cooped up with these guys, if you know what I mean.
I like German beers from Bavaria with cheese. A good one to try is Hofbrau Premium Lager. You can buy a single bottle just to try it for the first time, which is what I did. It is full of flavor but not too heavy or dark.
