If you want really sweet onions, try the Chipollini onions sometimes available fresh at JJ's and always available pickled in the Olive Bar. They are small flat Italian onions and are sweeter than a Vidalia.
Vidalia onions will be back in season in May - in the Produce Department we have Oso sweet onions as well as Peruvian sweet onions - neither one is as sweet as a vidalia but they are close.
Guess not. Stopped by tonight and bought some California Sweets. They are not sweet and they are HOT! Took one bite nad it took a whole box of crackers to kill the aftertaste. Somebody needs to figure out how to grow a similar onion in the fall!
