Anyone know if J.J.'s or anyone else in Cincy carries New England style hot dog buns. They look kind of like a standard Hostess/Butternut style bun but the do not have the crust on the sides. They are flat, white bread sides and are usually served pan browned on the sides with a little butter. I have them whenever I'm on the coast with hot dogs but more importantly, with the classic Lobster Roll.

Jungle Jim's now sells Nickles brand New England Style Hot Dog buns. They are in the Grocery Bread Aisle with other Nickles products, on the top shelf.
Thank you for your continued posts on the subject. Sincerely, Vicki @ Jungle Jim's Intl Market |

My dad loves them and I get them delivered to him by mail order http://www.mapleandmore.com not sure if this is helpful but then have them in different size cases. I generally get him the largest and then he freezes them.

As a Nebraska transplant, I too remember these buns from the past. In MY past they were marketed as "Weiner Wagons". I have looked for them locally as well having had them on visits to the East Coast.

I remeber these types of buns from my childhood but I was far from New England. I was in Kansas (having lived in Boston as an adult, I can also verify the use there as well). I have been looking for these "square" type of buns for a long time and would be thrilled to find them.
