I was in the Jungle last week and still no Extra Sharp in the case. Got the last 2 blocks last month. It seems if it's in that much demand you would want to stock more of it!
In my opinion, it's a toss up between Tillamook, Widmer's and Cabot for the very best sharp cheddar. However, in the national cheese competition last year, Widmer's got the most 1st place ribbons in the different age catagories.

Tillamook is the best cheese. It is a co-op of dairy farmers here in Oregon. They do not use hormones in their cows. If you ever come to Oregon you need to tour the plant, their ice cream is incredible.
I scored a 2 lb block of Special Reserve today in case anyone else was wanting to try it. But you will have to look for it since they keep the cheddar display on the move.
With my luck, every distributor that I've ordered from will ship at the same time. Sorry for the delay, but not one distributor has shipped the cheese. Tillamook has a small following in this area. We used to purchase directly from Tillamook, but it didn't work out. The minimum ordes continue to increase with fuel costs. We are trying to purchase the products through different distributors.
