Hey, since it a "jungle" anyway, why not have pet sitting. For a small fee$5.00 per hour or visit, registered guests can bring in their well behaved pets (worms, shots, etc would be a must) to be sitted while people are in the store. This would reduce the danger of animals being left in owners cars-you could save a life! We live in Mansfield ohio and have been to your store only once- it was a blast! Maybe you don't have kid sitting there ( Kroger's does this where we live) but that would be a good idea too( they have to be potty trained and registared).Just don't have them in the same area due to allergies and kids who don't know that some animals may not like them.

Phil-
I just had a brainstorm. Sell "discount tickets" to your cooking school thru AAA auto club, just like PKI does. Buy an advertisement in AAA's city guide booklets, and send out some press info to the AAA travel agents.

AAA is the largest travel agency in the world... A little press in the right place could go a long way!

By the way, I now work down off Mulehauser, right down the road from JJ's near the expressway, and I still live in Louisville.... Talk about a long daily drive!!!! [actually, I drive a truck, so it's a normal comute for me Big Grin]

There's also a lengthy mention in "Oddball Ohio", which I thought was great Smile

North of Dayton, news of the Jungle usually reaches people by word of mouth. We have the Honda factory in Troy and there are a large number of Japanese nationals in town for short business stints, I'm sure they get down there from time to time. I always made it a point to stop in even when I lived in Chicago, and we usually bring out-of-state visitors whenever we can.

Having just spent two hours broken down in the JJ parking lot yesterday, I can appreciate how a pet would feel in hot weather! I'm glad there's local pet care available.

SmileUp on Donald Drive about two or three blocks from Jungle Jim's there is Dog Town, they are kind of like a doggie daycare. I sometimes leave my doggie son there when I go shopping in Fairfield. Perhaps your sweet doggie will enjoy a visit to Dog Town too they are very good to my pet and I am happy with their service.

Thanks for the compliments!
You are right. The food network has been GREAT. I can tell you we have another segment appearing on their channel this fall. I believe that will be the fourth segment with them. They are fantastic!
I'll check on the advertising outside of our area. Smile

Have Fun!

Darryl,
Our advertising department tries to hit as many of possible. I know they have us listed with a large group of bus tours, one day trip groups, Kings Island, WCPO's Website, Door store to 150,000 homes every week and several state maps.... but I'm not sure if we advertise in Kentucky or Indiana. I'll check... Good idea.
We've been fortunate to recieve large quantities of press from Business Week and AOL had our story on thier webpage. The Smithsonian magazine wrote a GREAT story...
Thanks for the idea. I'll look into it!

Have Fun!

How about advertising the store outside the cincy market?[actually, I dont know if you even advertise it at all]

I'm in Louisville, and lots of people make the trip to cincy for various reasons... Kings Island, business, etc. If more people knew about your store, they would make a point to seek it out while visiting.

There are a lot of Ethnic backgrounds that live in our area it would be great to have a store closer, but we still enjoy the drive and there are other things that we really enjoy doing in Cincy too.So now we are going to inculde the Jungle on our trips. Keep up the Great Work it is a wonderful store to visit makes grocery shopping a lot more interesting. Thanks Tarzen6

The pet sitting will be a tough one to get past the Board of Health... I'll look at it.
Babysitting is something we considered for the Fairfield store, but the state regualations made that difficult.
We are working to put a day care center on the property that could accomidate short trips to the store. I'm hoping that will work out....
Have Fun!
